St. Patrick’s Day Essay Contest 2021

    Trinity Academy of Irish Dance is welcoming educators to teach their students about the rich culture and history of St. Patrick’s Day to their classroom. Two lesson packets are available for classroom educators of early education and early elementary students. These lesson packets include fun and educational activities as well as student essay writing materials, which have been created by and/or approved by an IL-certified teacher and staff member of Trinity.

Early Childhood

Essay Prompt & Requirements

Students will answer “I am lucky because” in both the written word and drawing. Students should use their own words, images, and creativity when answering the prompt. Students may use a pencil, marker, or crayon. The essay will be nonfiction and must be school-appropriate.

In order to be eligible for the essay contest and prize:

  • The student must be of early childhood age, between 3.5 – 6 years
  • The essay submission must include: student name, student birthday, home phone number, and parent signature
  • Be a resident of IL or WI

Prizes in Each Age Category

The judges will select one prize winner in each category based on both the content of both the written and drawn portion of the submission. Judges will look for submissions that are clear and consistent work between the written word and drawing. Only one entry per student will be judged. The essay must be solely the work of the entrant.

The selected prize winners will receive:

  • 4-Day Intro to Irish Dance Class
  • Essay Publication in a Trinity Newsletter
  • Free T-Shirt and Water Bottle

Students will write an essay that begins with “I am lucky because.” Students should use their own words and creativity when answering the prompt. Students should handwrite the essay in legible handwriting in pen or pencil. The essay will be nonfiction and must be school-appropriate.

In order to be eligible for the essay contest and prize:

  • The student must be of early elementary age and grade level of 1st-3rd grade
  • The essay submission must include: student name, student birthday, home phone number, and parent signature
  • Be a resident of IL or WI

Prizes in Each Age Category

The judges will select one prize winner in each category based on both the content and correct use of writing conventions. Judges will look for writing that is clear, easy to understand, and legible. Only one entry per student will be judged. The essay must be solely the work of the entrant.

The selected prize winners will receive:

  • Essay Publication in a Trinity Newsletter
  • Free T-Shirt and Water Bottle

Submission

The deadline for submissions is Wednesday, March 31, 2021.
